BHFC - Auxiliary lost one of its oldest Lifetime Active members - Gerry Hurst with 64 active years - peacefully passed away April 18, 2023 - In her 64 years at BHFC - Gerry held many offices (Vice President, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer as well as a member of the Board of Directors) along with serving on several committee's through the years, and even now she still was on the

“Gerry”

Age 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

Gerry was born in Norristown, PA and was preceded in death by her parents John N. Clark and Alice (Atkinson) Clark and her friend Walt. Gerry is survived by her daughters Kim E. Lutthans (Mark Ferrucci) and Lisa J. Kelly (Joe). Her grandchildren Erin Duerr (Steve), Kyle Lutthans, Joseph, Sean, Allyson and Bridgette Kelly and her great-grandsons Jackson & Wyatt Duerr.

Gerry graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1956 and Wilmington General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. During her nursing career she provided private duty nursing and was a school nurse in the Brandywine School District which included summer camp nurse at Bush School. Gerry retired from school nursing in 2000.

Gerry was also an Active Lifetime Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Brandywine Hundred Fire Company No. 1 with over sixty years of service and held the offices of Vice President, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer as well as a member of the Board of Directors.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers that provided compassionate care to her over the years.

Although burial will be private, a visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 12 pm at Brandywine Hundred Fire Company No. 1, 1006 Brandywine Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19809.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Gerry’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or the Ladies Auxiliary Brandywine Hundred Fire Company No. 1. (LA BHFC).
