While we all look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving Day with family and friends we must remember the importance of safety.

Many of us will drive to our holiday destination; to get there safe make sure you vehicle is in good working order. Do you have a designated driver, are all passengers and babies properly restrained and please follow the rules of the road. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get to your destination.

Before your guests arrive check to ensure that your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are in good working order.

An adult shall stay in the kitchen at all times when cooking appliances are in use.

Never the leave the house (even just for a few minutes) when you are cooking.

Keep children and pets away from the stove top and oven.

Be sure to keep knives, matches & lighters out of the reach of children.

Consider using battery operated candles in lieu of real burning candles.

If you plan on frying your turkey please find a dedicated place outdoors, stay away from wooden decks, under patio covers, inside a garage, near the house (vinyl siding is flammable).

Never leave a hot fryer unattended, ensure kids and pets are kept at a safe distance. Remember the oil in the fryer remains hot for hours, monitor until completely cooled.

If a fire or an emergency does occur call 911 Immediately, don't wait!

We hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.
