Brandywine Hundred Fire Company would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that when you turn your clocks back on Sunday, November 7, 2021 to please check and test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms to ensure they are in good working order.
Here are some additional helpful tips:
Test your detectors at least once a month using the test button on the device. Replace detector if it does not properly respond when tested.
Recommend replacing your detector batteries at least twice a year or upgrade to a 10-year detector that includes a 10-year lithium battery.
If detector "chirps" this could be an indication that the battery may need to be replaced, replace battery immediately. If replacing the battery does not correct the "chirp" replace the detector with a new detector.
Check the expiration date on your detectors, replace immediately if detector is expired.
Follow the manufacturer's specification for installation, testing and maintenance.
Make sure that everyone in the home understands the sound of the detector and knows how to respond when the detector activates.
