<![CDATA[Stations 11, 22, and 13 were dispatched to 104 Hay Road for the report of a commercial structure fire at 22:35hrs. Engine 11-5, 11-3, Ambulance 11 and Chief 11-8 were all responding within one minute of dispatch! Enroute crews were advised that there was a roof fire and the correct address was 198 Hay Road, the Steam Turbine Building of Delmarva Power. Engine 11-3 arrived finding smoke showing from the roof, and seconds later observed fire showing and requested the working fire upgrade. Crews initially went in service with a deck gun from 11-3 and were shortly after assisted by master streams from Tower 11 and Squirt 20. Once master streams were setup crews made entry with a handline up stair towers and cat walks about eight stories up to assist in knocking the fire from inside. After a short period of time it was determined that the integrity of the roof was compromised from the fire and the building was evacuated. Because of the decreasing conditions a second alarm was struck, and the decision to use a defensive attack using four handlines, Tower 11, Squirt 20, 25-7 and Ladder 13 master streams to suppress the fire on the roof was made. Finally after almost four hours the crews were able to suppress the fire on the roof, in addition crews were able to contain the fire to the roof. Two ffs had to be checked out by ambulance 11 for heat exhaustion....]]>
