Brandywine Hundred Fire Company held their Open House today in preparation for Fire Prevention Week. This year we had several exciting demonstrations, fire prevention table top exhibits, EMS / Fire apparatus displays, Red Cross blood drive and so much more.
During this great event we distributed over 200 new smoke detectors, had over (30) individuals donate blood, and we unveiled our "New" interactive house prop. This prop replicates a front elevation of a house with fire showing through the windows. Children were standing in line to take their turn on spraying water from a fire hose to extinguish the simulated fire. A special thanks our members Dominic & Vincent Liberatore for building this fire prevention prop for our open house.
The officers and members of BHFC wish to thank all of the vendors and neighboring fire companies who took the time out of their day to participate with this great event. We also thank the crews from Station 22 & 25 for providing coverage for our district during our Open House.
Tips for Fire Safety:
1). Install smoke detectors. WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES!
2). If you already have detectors in your home, make sure they are in good working order & test them each month.
3). Discuss with your family about a fire escape plan and practice the plan.
4). In the event of a fire, GET OUT, STAY OUT and call 911.
